The course covers traditional water based woodblock in detail with the opportunity to learn some of the background and ethos of Japanese printmaking. You will use tradtional tools to create your watercolour and rice paste prints, following the process from designing your image, aligning it correctly, cutting your blocks to learning the Japanese printing technique. This woodblock printing course will explore the basics of traditional Japanese watercolour printmaking. You will work through all stages of turning a sketch into a finished print including accurate registration, cutting and working with watercolour.
