Me

Great care needs to be taken at all stages of the process as cutting away the wrong piece or misaligning the registration cannot be rectified. I have been using this process for quite a while and I know where I am going with a print, but I still make mistakes and have on occasion lost the best part of whole editions. Since I tend to work in editions of six or eight, the margin for mistakes is very narrow.

As the print nears completion the risk is at its highest. The reduction process can be just a couple of colours but I have done as many as nine. If I start with 8 copies and get all the way through without error I will have inked and printed the block 72 times.

The following pages show an example of how the colours are built up.
